Clue #1 Located in the 2008 Passport To Frolic

The treasue disk lies somewhere on public land with no dismantling or moving of any building or object required. Please respect the property of others. Possession of a 2008 Hibbing Winter Frolic button is required to claim the prize.

Clue #4 (2/5/08)

A gambler oft relies on a personal charm:
Such a search for an edge does little harm.
Many put trust in the feet of the rabbits they meet.
Others quote numbers in sequence they like to repeat.

And what other objects might luck foretell?
Whimsy goes airborne when on this thought you dwell.
With 186 square miles to conduct your search,
Look under every bench and behind every birch.

Or conserve your efforts and save a little gas.
Rely on a roll of the old astragalas.
A near All American effort on your part
Might yield success or at least a place to start.

Clue #7 (2/8/08)

You’ve looked here and there–most everywhere.
Shoveled City Hall ground ‘til it’s nearly bare.
However, you cannot seem to find the disc.
So let’s review what clues you must have missed.

A crap shooter’s number is called a puck,
And a clover would seem to signal additional luck.
Fifty-four cards were told to be spilled to the floor.
Fifty-four acres–a large plot of ground to explore.

The 28 guards zero on a roulette wheel,
With 19 slots between two numbers real.
That gives an avenue to potential success.
You have got to be close to the right address.

Look for the little tin man and his little toy gun.
He’s been laughing all week and having some fun.
Imagine a goal ‘cross the street highly o’ershot.
Dig deep in the snow to expose the burial spot.

Clue #2 (2/3/08)

Exactly how much would you put at risk
In your city-wide seach for our treasure disk?
Would you search all places, both high and low,
With eagle eye throughout the winter snow?

Hibbing boasts many a recreational park
Where you can romp with family and have a lark.
Some are named for people and some for places.
Our disk lies hidden in such common spaces.

But if you stay put on this–Super Bowl Sunday–
Minimally think which team best helps you Monday.
One of the two has not lost yet this season.
Could their cognomen be part of the reason?

Clue #5 (2/6/08)

Reading this today means we still
Have clues that we badly need to spill.
You hunters, obviously, cannot find your aim.
So let’s make reference to some other games.

Open and spill out a deck of cards.
Count ‘em all–even the discards.
That’s the scope of the facility,
A recreation site in our city.

Nearby should rest a Parker Monopoly token.
No car, no shoe, no hat, no boat, no iron.
Then look around for the shape of a baccarat table,
Swings, tunnel and slide, and a two horse stable.

The Treasure Disk Has Been Found!

Clue #3 (2/4/08)

Craps, roulette, or cards might be your game;
Or the one that gave Pershing his name.
Wellington and crew enjoyed their quince.
Six numbers have been added ever since.

Like them you need to calculate your odds.
Will it be nocturne or an aubode?
A little thinking ought to help your chances,
Using gambling knowledge as an advantage.

Think where one might play with a crap shooter’s number.
And who is that guy wielding a short piece of lumber?
That should help you strike a few off your list.
Double down to assure that none you have missed.

Clue #6 (2/7/08)

“Location, location,” every the realtor cries.
Here’s a hot tip that warrants a try.
How far apart rests the one from the two
In a game named from the French word roué?

And in which direction does that little ball roll?
You seek the slot abutting the single zero.
Intersect these two in your mind’s eye
And the treasure disc you might soon espy.

Confirm where you are with a glance to the north.
Two flags on a pole should readily stand forth.
No, the disc does not rest near a private abode,
But lies buried in the park right ‘cross the road.
